JESSICA WOHLERS

My paintings represent a quiet communication between man and his surroundings. They are a response to the over-abundance of information that we receive on a daily basis. Some information we accept, and some we reject; these paintings embody the acceptance, and allow the viewer to cope with the rejected, by creating a quiet environment where our natural surroundings can coexist with technology. The work represents a form of escapism in a sense, when the viewer can be manipulated into a silent moment, but is then brought back to reality by the contrast within the imagery.

The paintings also describe the landscape of a new generation, where power lines, and street lights can become as delicate as our natural surroundings.
The work itself is produced with traditional concepts in mind. Craft and skill are held as important and conceptual design. I have a deep love for realism, and describing a world that is most familiar to me is always the ambition.
