
Chilled Chickpea Chaat Masala Salad
This fresh and easy take on traditional Indian chaat captures the delicious flavors of a normally heavy dish in a light and fresh salad.
Main Course
Samah Dada
1 (15.5 oz) can of chickpeas, drained and rinsed
½ red onion, sliced
2 Persian cucumbers, sliced
1 yellow onion, diced
1 medium tomato, diced
2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
Juice of 2 limes
½ tsp chaat masala
¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper, plus more to taste
Kosher salt
Freshly ground black pepper to taste
¼ cup (packed) cilantro, finely chopped, plus extra for garnish
Put the chickpeas in a medium bowl. Add the onions, cucumbers, tomatoes, olive oil and lime juice. Mix to combine. Now add the chaat masala, cayenne, and salt and black pepper. Season to taste. Stir in the cilantro. Garnish with more cilantro and serve!
