Adeena Sussman

Adeena Sussman is a celebrated cookbook author, recipe developer, and culinary consultant based in Tel Aviv, Israel. Her cookbook Sababa: Fresh, Sunny Flavors From My Israeli Kitchen was named a Best Fall Cookbook by The New York Times, Bon Appetit, and Food & Wine. She was also a coauthor for the recently release Gazoz book, and is currently working on her followup to Sababa, all about the foods of the Shabbat.

The co-author of 14 cookbooks, three of her recent collaborations, including Cravings and Cravings: Hungry For More with Chrissy Teigen, were New York Times Best-sellers.

A lifelong visitor to Israel who has been writing about that country’s food culture for almost 20 years, Adeena became a citizen in December 2018. She cooks and writes in Tel Aviv, where she lives in the shadow of that city’s Carmel Market with her husband, Jay Shofet.

Lior and Adeena met many years ago when Lior first moved to New York and they instantly connected over their love of food and Israel. Over the years they became great friends and had many conversations about ways to bring Israeli cuisine to the forefront of culinary awareness.

Over lunch in the Carmel Market in Tel Aviv, Lior and Adeena discussed the ways they could tell Adeena's story through spice blends. Combining her American culinary background, her daily visits to the market, and the blend of American and Israeli cuisine, they developed three unique spice blends.

These three blends reflect this journey and invite you into Adeena's world.
