For many years, I have found galangal in the medicine of Hildegard von Bingen, a famous medieval nun who also wrote music , taught theology and preached up and down the Rhine river. It is noted she used galangal for heart ailments--which no other herbalist has done--I saw a glowing review of this in a modern review but not too many know about it today.
